Travel Sterile Processing Technician – Night Shift

Schedule: 5x8s | Nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract: 13 Weeks | 40 hours/week | No on-call required
About the Role:
HumanEdge Health is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a 13-week travel assignment in a state-of-the-art instrument processing facility located in a large academic hospital in Rochester, NY . The Sterile Processing Department supports 35 OR suites , AFC units, and clinics. Instruments, trays, and pans are tracked using Getinge’s T-DOC barcoding system .
Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays
Operate advanced sterilization equipment (steam sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, aerators)
Verify cleanliness, proper assembly, and function of surgical tools
Monitor sterilization parameters (time, temp, pressure), conduct biological testing, and maintain accurate documentation
Decontaminate equipment following infection control protocols
Perform equipment checks, simple maintenance, and refer malfunctioning items for repair
Receive and stock surgical supplies, monitor inventory, and document usage
Ensure QA compliance including sterility checks and supply validation
Active Sterile Processing Tech Certification (HSPA or CBSPD)
BLS (AHA only)
Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing Tech experience
Experience in large hospitals (500+ beds)
Minimum 6 months of recent travel assignment experience
Level 1 Trauma Center experience
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) credential
Orthopedic tray handling experience
Equipment Used:
Sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, aerators, steris units, hand/power tools, cart washers, calibration/repair tools, and more.
