Job Description

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create highly accurate and detailed 3D models of MV Electrical Houses, including the structural elements and all internal components such as switchgear, transformers, control panels, protective relays, cabling, busbars, grounding systems, and ancillary equipment.
  • Develop detailed 3D representations of electrical systems, including the creation of 3D "drawings" or layouts from single-line MV electrical diagrams.
  • Integrate electrical system components seamlessly into the overall 3D EHouse model, ensuring proper spatial relationships, clearances, and accessibility for maintenance.
  • Work meticulously from engineering drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, specifications, and reference materials to ensure model fidelity and adherence to electrical and mechanical design principles.
  • Ensure all models adhere to industry standards (e.g., NEMA, ANSI, IEC), company guidelines, and project-specific requirements, particularly concerning electrical safety and clearance standards.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, mechanical designers, and other stakeholders to understand design intent, review models for accuracy, and incorporate feedback.
  • Manage and organize 3D model libraries and ensure proper version control for all design iterations.
  • Prepare models for various applications, including design reviews, clash detection, manufacturing documentation, and construction planning.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to model geometry, component placement, and system integration.
  • Stay updated with the latest 3D modeling software, techniques, and industry best practices relevant to electrical system integration.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in 3D modeling, with a strong emphasis on industrial equipment, electrical systems, or complex machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in modeling electrical components and layouts, specifically for medium voltage applications or similar industrial power distribution systems.
  • Proven ability to interpret and translate 2D electrical schematics and single-line diagrams into accurate 3D models.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Expertise in at least one industry-standard 3D CAD software with strong capabilities for electrical design and routing (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical 3D, SolidWorks Electrical 3D, E3.series, Autodesk Inventor, Revit MEP).
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and mechanical layouts Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly related to medium voltage power distribution, protective devices, and wiring methods.
  • Knowledge of electrical clearances, safety standards, and best practices for industrial electrical installations.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing highly accurate and functional 3D models.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to visualize and optimize complex system layouts in 3D.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills (Bonus Points):

  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles and software, especially for industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with specific MV electrical equipment from manufacturers like ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Eaton.
  • Experience with clash detection software and practices.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a strong aptitude for detailed electrical system integration within industrial or modular structures.
