Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced   Cost Accountant to join our finance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering data,   analyzing production costs , preparing cost reports, supporting inventory valuation,   and assisting with budget preparation and financial planning . This role plays a critical part in helping the company maintain cost efficiency and improve profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather & Analyze manufacturing various data points   costs   and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.


• Maintain and monitor cost accounting systems and cost standards.


• Prepare and analyze inventory valuations, variances, and reconciliations .


• Assist with month-end close processes including journal entries and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS ).


• Work closely with operations and production teams to monitor and gather key data points, understand cost drivers and recommend cost-saving opportunities.


• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate cost data and trend analysis .


• Monitor and report on capital expenditures and fixed assets as it relates to production .


• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to cost accounting practices .


• Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.


• Experience: Minimum of  3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial analysis .


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Business Central or similar) is preferred.


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Skills:

• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.


• Experience with standard costing and activity-based costing methodologies.


• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma is beneficial.
